England are planning to host India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka in four men’s international series in the 2021 summer, with a provisional fixture list announced for those tours.
South Africa Women and New Zealand Women are also set to visit, as is Australia’s visually impaired side. The provisional dates for those series are yet to be revealed.
Sri Lanka will be the first side to visit for a three-match ODI series. Pakistan, following their 2020 tour, will return for three-match ODI and T20I series in July, continuing a streak since 2016 of touring England every year. India will then contest a five-match Test series in August an September.
Separate to these games, the ICC are still planning to host the inaugural World Test Championship final in June. How these plans progress will play a part in determining whether the ECB will be able to arrange more international cricket before Sri Lanka’s ODI series. Discussions are ongoing over the possibility of a T20I or Test series between the teams.
The ballot for tickets for the men’s international fixtures are now open, with details available on the website of each host ground. The ECB have promised refunds to guard against the potential impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the 2021 summer.
While the ECB were able to host a full complement of men’s fixtures in the 2020 summer, the proposed schedule for 2021, and the possibility of fans attending, suggests they are planning for a return to something closer to normality. While in 2020 just two grounds played host to men’s international fixtures, nine are set to host games in 2021. These do not include the Ageas Bowl in Southampton, which was one of two men’s bio-secure venues used in 2020.
Dates and venues for the women’s series will be confirmed and tickets are expected to go on sale next year. Fixtures and dates for the visually impaired series are also yet to be confirmed.
