The 2024-25 Indian domestic season begins with the start of the Duleep Trophy on September 5. Here's all you need to know about the fixtures list, match timings and the venues of the competition.
What is the format of Duleep Trophy?
With the zonal format of the competition scrapped, four teams – India A, India B, India C and India D – will now participate this year. A selection panel led by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) chief selector Ajit Agarkar will select the squads.
A total of six four-day matches will be played between September 5 and 22.
Where will the 2024 Duleep Trophy be held?
Two venues – Rural Development Trust Stadium and ACA ADCA Ground – at Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh will host three matches each.
However, according to an ESPNcricinfo report, one of the doubleheaders from September 5 could be moved to Bengaluru due to logistical issues. An official confirmation is yet to come.
Centrally contracted players to play Duleep Trophy 2024
Several senior players have been asked to be available for the tournament. The move is in line with BCCI chair Jay Shah’s push to ensure the availability of the centrally contracted players in the Indian domestic season.
While some reports say Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are among the few notable exceptions, contradictory reports claim their participation in the upcoming competition.
