The Duleep Trophy will kickstart India’s domestic season, and is scheduled to begin on September 8, 2022. It will be played in an inter-zonal format for the first time since 2014/15. Suspended the following year, it resumed in 2016/17 and was played in three-team format. The tournament will be held in Tamil Nadu, with the first match in Chennai and the final in Coimbatore.

A North-East Zone has been added, making it a six-team knockout affair. This time, national selectors will not be part of the selection process, with six zonal selection committees taking up the responsibility.
