Shane Warne, the second-highest Test wicket-taker, wasn’t too impressed with New Zealand opting for an all-pace attack for the World Test Championship final, but a Twitter user ended up getting a share of the spotlight for brazenly questioning the Australian great’s knowledge of spin.

New Zealand opted against including left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel in their final XI for the WTC final, going for a four-pronged pace attack along with the medium pace of Colin de Grandhomme. Warne took to Twitter, saying he was “very disappointed in NZ” for not fielding a spinner, for a game in which India included two spinners.
“Very disappointed in Nz not playing a spinner in the #ICCWorldTestChampionship,” Warne’s tweet said, “as this wicket is going to spin big with huge foot marks developing already. Remember if it seems it will spin. India make anything more than 275/300 ! The match is over unless weather comes in !”

Not too often would you see Warne being questioned over his knowledge of spin bowling, but Twitter user ‘Macca @Justflips96’ wasn’t too impressed with the leg-spinner’s observation.

The account replied to the tweet: “Shane do you understand how spin works? The pitch gets dry… this pitch won’t get dry because for the rest of the test, there is due to be rain.”
At the time of writing, the tweet had 1.8k likes and 2.2k retweets, getting more replies than the original tweet.
Warne hasn’t replied to the comment and it’s unlikely that he will, but the reply would have surely caught the attention of the spin wizard. We’d love to see a riposte.
