Diana Edulji, one of the two members of the Supreme Court of India-appointed Committee of Administrators, has sent out an email to Vinod Rai, the other member of the CoA, accusing him of unconstitutionally facilitating the appointment of the India Women’s coach.
Former India opening batsman WV Raman was confirmed by the BCCI as the new coach on Thursday, December 20, but in a terse email to Rai, Edulji claimed that she was left in the dark about the whole process, the Times of India reported.
“The entire process of selecting a qualified coach for women’s cricket team is unconstitutional,” Edulji wrote.

“I reiterate that we have been assigned the role of implementing the Lodha reforms, which says the coach of the Indian team can only be appointed by the CAC (Cricket Advisory Committee). Your unilateral decision of appointing the ad-hoc committee is not only unconstitutional but also illegal.”

Rai, the CoA chairman, was also cautioned by the BCCI treasurer, Anirudh Chaudhry, about the legal and financial ramifications of “circumventing” the other CoA member.

“Since there is no decision of the CoA in the matter of the selection of the women’s coach, the process and an appointment if any in the present facts and circumstances, are without jurisdiction and without authority and an appointment for and on behalf of the BCCI,” Chaudhry wrote to Rai, as reported by the Times of India.
“Therefore, who pays for the process? If any payment is made to a candidate from BCCI accounts, who is to be debited for the same?”
