Finalists of the inaugural edition of the ILT20 in 2023, Desert Vipers, have selected Pakistan internationals like Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shadab Khan and Azam Khan as their new signings. This is the first time Pakistani cricketers will feature in the league.
However, they have not tampered with the team’s core. They have retained Colin Munro as captain, and have renewed the contracts of Alex Hales, Wanindu Hasaranga, Sheldon Cottrell, Matheesha Pathirana and Tom Curran.
Hales, who recently retired from international cricket, lit up the previous edition by amassing 429 runs in 12 innings to become the highest run-getter in the tournament.
Meanwhile, Hasaranga, the third-highest wicket-taker (15) in the competition, was instrumental in winning the recently concluded LPL 2023 for B-Love Kandy. He finished with 279 runs and 19 wickets, the highest in each department, to be adjudged Player of the Tournament.
At the same time, the Vipers have let go Sam Billings, Tymal Mills, Benny Howell, Ruben Trumpelmann, Ben Duckett, Adam Lyth, Mark Watt, Saqib Mahmood, Jake Lintott, Ronak Panoly, Sheraz Ahmed, and Dhruv Parashar.
