Arun Jaitley Stadium to host Delhi Premier League
The Delhi Premier League, to be hosted by the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), is the latest addition to the list of state association-run T20 tournaments in India. The inaugural season will feature a total of 40 matches, including 33 in the men’s category and the rest in the women’s, tentatively in the second half of August.
Which are the participating sides in DPL 2024?
Six franchises West Delhi Lions, North Delhi Strikers, South Delhi Superstarz, Purani Delhi-6, Delhi Kings and East Delhi Riders were auctioned for a whopping INR 49.65 crore last Sunday. 270 players, including national, Under 23 and Under 19 cricketers were present in the first draft.
Sehwag named as the brand ambassador of the league
DDCA unveiled the tournament, with former India international Virender Sehwag named as its brand ambassador.
"The league will surely be a fantastic opportunity to those players who work hard in the nets and didn’t get a chance in any major tournament. When I used to play in my younger days we didn’t get this type of opportunity to play in different leagues. Now my son is playing I am glad that he will be getting those opportunities, so yes it is a very great opportunity," Sehwag said at the inauguration ceremony.

Pant, Rana, Saini among notable stars in DPL 2024
Rishabh Pant’s anticipated participation this year makes the headline. Other than the India wicketkeeper-batter, Navdeep Saini and Kolkata Knight Riders star pacer Harshit Rana, will also take part in the Delhi Premier League.
"Rishabh Pant, Navdeep Saini, Harshit Rana and other Indian players will feature in the inaugural season of DPL. I talked with Rishabh Pant and he has promised me to participate in the league but it only depends on his availability and national commitments. But as of now, he will be playing. Navdeep and Harshit will also feature in the league," confirmed DDCA president Rohan Jaitely.
