D’Arcy Short smashed a 148-ball 257 for Western Australia against Queensland in the Australian domestic one-day cup on Friday, September 28.
The 28-year-old, who walked in at the fall of WA’s first wicket, bludgeoned 23 sixes and 15 boundaries in his record-breaking innings.
Short’s 257 is now the third-highest individual total in List A cricket, overtaking Shikhar Dhawan’s 248 for India A against South Africa A in August 2013.

The left-handed batsman crossed 200 with three back-to-back sixes into the stands of the Hurstville Oval in Sydney. With this incredible effort, he became the fourth Australian batsman to notch up a double ton in 50-over cricket.

Short began his innings with a cautious approach, taking 57 deliveries to score his first 50 runs. He got into his own soon thereafter and took just 83 deliveries to reach triple figures.
It was absolute carnage after that, as the man from Katherine trounced Queensland by smashing 153 runs from the next 65 balls he faced.

Short came into the middle in the third over and was finally dismissed by Matthew Kuhnemann in the 46th over. He batted with a sensational strike-rate of 173.65 through the innings.
