Tushar Deshpande makes his India debut

Tushar Deshpande was handed his maiden India cap in the fourth T20I against Zimbabwe on Saturday. Previously, captain Shubman Gill hinted at rotating the pacers throughout the series, meaning a chance for Deshpande was just around the corner. The Mumbai pacer replaced Avesh Khan, who played the last three matches.

Deshpande is one of the few domestic pacers with a fast bowling contract from the BCCI.

Naseem Shah denied NOC by PCB for The Hundred

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has denied a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to Naseem Shah to play in the upcoming edition of The Hundred, claimed Geo News.

The pacer was signed by Birmingham Phoenix for 125,000 euros. Given Shah’s history of injuries, the decision was taken to manage his workload, reported the news outlet. Shah underwent surgery on his shoulder, which forced him out of the 2023 ODI World Cup. However, he was part of Pakistan’s 2024 T20 World Cup squad.

Senior ICC officials Chris Tetley, Claire Furlong step down after T20 World Cup

Ahead of the Annual Conference of the International Cricket Council (ICC), two senior officials, Chris Tetley, ICC’s head of events and Claire Furlong, general manager of marketing and communications, have resigned, reported Cricbuzz.

The report states: "One particular source has claimed that both Tetley and Furlong decided to leave the world body at the end of the last commercial cycle itself but stayed on in view of the Twenty20 World Cup in the US. The source went on to add that the two quit quite some time back but will continue to be with the ICC for a few more months 'to ensure smooth transition of charge in a crowded event cycle.' They will also attend the Annual Conference in Colombo from July 19 to 22."

Kapil Dev writes to BCCI for financial help for ailing Aunshuman Gaekwad

Aunshuman Gaekwad, who played 40 Tests and 15 ODIs for India between 1975 and 198 and became the head coach for his team on two occasions, is currently battling blood cancer. He has been undergoing treatment for the same at King’s College Hospital in London.

Former India captain Kapil Dev has requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to provide financial support for his ex-teammate.

"It is a sad and very depressing. I am in pain because I have played alongside Anshu and can't bear to see him in this state. No one should suffer. I know the Board will take care of him. We are not compelling anyone. Any help for Anshu will have to come from your heart. He took blows on his face and chest when standing up to some of the ferocious fast bowlers. Now is the time for us to stand up for him. I am sure our cricket fans will not fail him. They should pray for his recovery," Kapil Dev told Sportstar.

He added: "Unfortunately, we don't have a system. It is great to see this generation of players make good money. It is good to see the support staff members also being paid well. In our time, the Board did not have the money. Today, it has and should take care of the senior players from the past. But where do they send their contributions? If a Trust is formed, they can put their money there. But we don't have a system. There should be a Trust. I think BCCI can do that. They do look after the players, former and present. We are ready to contribute by donating our pension amount if the family allows us to."

Jhulan Goswami named TKR mentor ahead of WCPL 2024

Former India pacer Jhulan Goswami has joined Trinbago Knight Riders as a mentor for the Women's Caribbean Premier League 2024.

"It's an honour to join such a quality franchise," Goswami said in a statement by Knight Riders. "Knight Riders have done so well in India and around the world, and to join TKR Women at the WCPL is a pleasure. Thanks to KKR management for thinking about me as a mentor and I'm really looking forward to this tournament."

TKR are captained by former West Indies all-rounder Deandra Dottin. They recently signed up India's Jemimah Rodrigues and Shikha Pandey and Australia's Meg Lanning and Jess Jonassen.
