Harshit Rana credits Gambhir after maiden India call-up
Pacer Harshit Rana credited Gautam Gambhir after earning his maiden ODI call-up for the tour of Sri Lanka. Under Gambhir's mentorship in 2024, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) lifted their third IPL trophy. Rana was instrumental in KKR's success, claiming 19 wickets from 13 games.
"If I have to name three people whom I am indebted to in this beautiful journey of mine, then it is my father, for his efforts, my personal coach Amit Bhandari sir (former India and Delhi pacer) and above everyone else, Gauti bhaiyya (Gautam Gambhir)," Rana told PTI.
He added: "If my outlook towards the game has changed, a lot of it has got to do with Gauti bhaiyya’s presence in the KKR dressing room and how he changed my mindset. At the elite level, you require skills but more than skills you require the heart to handle the pressure. Gauti bhaiyya would always tell me ‘Mere ko tere pe trust hai. Tu match jeetake aayega’. (I trust you, you can win the match)."
Ollie Pope calls Arsenal's Aaron Ramsdale 'lucky charm' after hundred against West Indies
England batter Ollie Pope, who scored 121 on the opening day of the Trent Bridge Test against the West Indies, said that the presence of Arsenal's goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale seems to be his lucky charm.
“He seems to be my lucky charm,” Pope said. “He’s come to two other games and in one of them I scored 200. It always happens to be the day he’s there that I get the runs, so I think he can come more often.”
