Gunaratne stars in Sri Lanka’s win over Bangladesh
Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh comprehensively in their Women’s Asia Cup 2024 campaign opener. Bowling first, the hosts restricted Bangladesh to 111-8, courtesy of an all-round bowling performance spearheaded by left-arm pacer Udeshika Prabodhani’s 2-20. They made light work of the target as a 48-ball 51 from opener Vishmi Gunaratne helped them gun down the total with seven wickets and 17 balls remaining.
Laxman in talks with LSG for coaching role – report
Lucknow Super Giants are currently negotiating with VVS Laxman to accept a coaching offer for IPL 2025, claimed a Times of India report.
The report added that Laxman, the current head of the National Coaching Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, is unlikely to renew his contract, which ends in September 2024. Recently, the former India international travelled to Zimbabwe as the interim head coach of the T20I team.
Hassan Ali's blunt take on India potentially not travelling to Pakistan for Champions Trophy
Amid reports that India will not travel to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy, fast-bowler Hassan Ali has bluntly said that the tournament can go ahead without the neighbour’s participation.
“If we’re going there (to India) to play, then they should come to Pakistan too," Hasan said on Samaa TV. "As our (PCB) chairman has already said, if the Champions Trophy is going to be held in Pakistan, then it will be in Pakistan. If India doesn’t want to come, we’ll play without them. Cricket should be played in Pakistan, and if India doesn’t want to participate, it doesn’t mean cricket has ended. There are many other teams besides India."
Delhi Capitals to retain Pant, Axar, Kuldeep ahead of IPL mega auction – report
According to an ANI report, Delhi Capitals will retain Rishabh Pant ahead of the 2025 IPL mega auctions. The claims come after rumours of the wicketkeeper moving to the Chennai Super Kings flooded the news. The report also claimed that the franchise is also looking to retain Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel.
