‘SKY’ rumoured favourite for India T20I captaincy
Various reports have suggested Suryakumar Yadav as the frontrunner to take over India's T20I captaincy for their upcoming series in Sri Lanka. Hardik Pandya, the vice-captain during India's T20 World Cup win, was the initial favourite, but Surya seems to be set to get the nod over him.
Surya had previously led India during their T20I series against Australia which followed the 2023 World Cup. India won the series 4-1 and, having also led the team in South Africa that year, his captaincy record so far reads five wins from eight with one washout.
Jaydev Unadkat responds to criticism
Unadkat is set to return to Sussex for the back-end of this summer’s County Championship. He was quoted on X as saying "While playing county cricket in UK, you have to take care of everything on your own. From living on my own to making my breakfast and doing my laundry, staying there taught me to be self-dependent. It’s a different experience altogether. You are only given a flat to stay in and a car to drive around."
Unadkat responded by saying the comments had been taken out of context and that "cricket is always a priority, no matter where I play".

West Indies name unchanged XI for second Test
The West Indies suffered a huge defeat at Lord's, losing the first Test of the series by an innings and 114 runs in less than seven sessions. However, they have named an unchanged XI for the second Test.

An unchanged playing XI will face England in the 2nd Test at Trent Bridge.#ENGvWI | #MenInMaroon | #Apex pic.twitter.com/cQK8tDVgK0
That means Shamar Joseph, who looked below full fitness at Lord's and at one point had to leave the field after sustaining a minor injury, is fit to play. The match begins tomorrow (July 18).
Stuart Broad stand to be unveiled during Test match
Nottinghamshire CCC announced last year that The Pavilion End at Trent Bridge would be renamed The Stuart Broad End as a tribute to the fast-bowler's career. Broad retired from professional cricket last summer following the final Test of the Ashes series. He finished with 604 Test wickets, fifth on the all-time rankings behind, Muttiah Muralidaran, Shane Warne, James Anderson and Anil Kumble.
It was announced today that the stand will be unveiled before play on day one of the second Test between England and West Indies at the ground. For the ceremony, Broad will be joined by his father Chris, former England and Nottinghamshire player, retired ICC match referee, and Notts club president.
Tomorrow, we'll officially rename the Pavilion End of our venue in honour of a Nottinghamshire and England great.
