Selectors reportedly planning to hand Arshdeep Test debut in Australia

According to a Times of India (TOI) report, India selectors are mulling over the possibility of handing Arshdeep Singh a Test debut in their upcoming Test tour in Australia from November 22. Arshdeep was the joint-highest wicket-taker (17) in India's successful T20 World Cup campaign in June.

Tilak’s injury made way for Riyan’s inclusion in India’s T20I squad – Report

As per the above TOI report, Riyan Parag's selection in India's white-ball tour in Sri Lanka was helped by Tilak Varma's unavailability due to an injury.

"Parag is highly talented and has improved his attitude towards the game by several notches. He's now looking to stay at the wicket. To add to his value, he can bowl decently, and is a terrific fielder to boot. The selectors want to nurture him for the future," a source revealed to the daily.

The source added: "He can bowl yorkers, slower balls and employ other variations at the death. That makes him a good option in white-ball cricket."

England name unchanged XI for third Test against West Indies

England, who sealed a series victory with a 241-run win against West Indies at Trent Bridge, have kept their XI for the third Test unchanged. Ben Duckett has returned to the squad after the birth of his daughter and has been included. Mark Wood, who bowled a hair-raising spell after coming as a replacement for the retired James Anderson, has been given another go.

Archer looking to answer critics with possible Test comeback in Ashes

England pacer Jofra Archer is aiming to play the 2025-26 Ashes to prove his naysayers wrong. Archer has made a steady comeback to cricket in the 2024 T20 World Cup after a series of recurring injuries have hampered his ambitions over the years.

Speaking to BBC, Archer said: "I am going to use the rest of this year to make sure that is at least a possibility. I'm tired of going on Instagram and seeing posts saying 'he's going to be on the physio's bed in the next two weeks' and stuff like that. I want to spend the rest of the year proving some people wrong and hopefully play in another Ashes.

"I will manage myself as best as possible and get myself [through] until at least maybe the start of the Championship next year. I'll probably play a few of those [games] and keep building up and getting that workload ready for Test cricket. I am feeling good and want to get some games in. I am going to enjoy this little phase of some white-ball cricket," he added.

BCCI to debate player retention, sustainability of ‘Right to Match’ with IPL owners – Reports

As per multiple reports on Sportstar and Cricbuzz, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will discuss the number of players that can be retained ahead of the mega-auction this year as well as the feasibility of the 'Right to Match' (RTM) option with the IPL franchise owners in a meeting on July 31.

In the previous mega auction in 2018, sides were able to keep up to five players, including three from the auction and others through the RTM option. But with the addition of Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants in 2022, the retention limit was reduced to four players for every team, and the 'RTM' option was struck off.
