England recovered from a poor morning session to leave India wicketless between lunch and tea on the fourth day of the third Test, with Stokes and Buttler batting right through the afternoon session.

Jos Buttler hit his first Test century as he and Ben Stokes fought back against India on the fourth afternoon at Trent Bridge, before late wickets left India needing just one wicket on the fifth day to secure victory.

Their impressive stand continued into the evening and Buttler passed 100 from 153 balls, before dismissed for 106 by Jasprit Bumrah, who notched a five-for.

The comeback (of sorts – England were still way behind in the game) followed the loss of all of the top four batsmen caught behind the wicket on the fourth morning. Stokes and Buttler shared a stand of 169 before a mini-collapse ensued, and it took some resolute batting from Adil Rashid and James and Anderson to see England through to the fifth day on 311/9, 210 runs behind with one wicket remaining.
