Jasprit Bumrah and Shikhar Dhawan have been recalled to India’s squads for their upcoming series against Sri Lanka and Australia, in T20Is and ODIs respectively, after recovering from injury.
Bumrah returns after recovering from a back injury which had ruled him out since September, while Dhawan had suffered a cut knee shortly before India’s series against West Indies. Whether he slots back straight into the ODI XI remains to be seen, with KL Rahul making a strong play for the opener’s slot in his absence.

Rahul made two half-centuries in the T20I series, including an innings of 91 off just 56 balls in the decider, and made a century and a half-century in the final two ODIs, with India winning both to claim a 2-1 win. Records were sent tumbling during his double-century stand with Rohit Sharma in the second ODI, and it may be that India are reluctant to separate the pairing. Age may also play in Rahul’s favour. He is 27 years old, whereas Dhawan will be 37 years old by the time the next Cricket World Cup starts, in 2023.
Navdeep Saini keeps his place in the squad, with Deepak Chahar still injured. Saini claimed 2-58 on ODI debut in the final game of West Indies’ visit. Rohit and Mohammed Shami have both been rested from the T20I series against Sri Lanka.
