The first day of action saw four games taking place – Madhya Pradesh v Jharkhand, Railways v Gujarat, Haryana v Mumbai and Chhattisgarh v Jammu and Kashmir.

Madhya Pradesh v Jharkhand: Day 1 round-up

MP won the toss and chose to bat. They were rocked early, slipping to 33-2 and 47-3. Thereafter, Arham Aquil (57) and Shubham S Kushwah (84) put on 84 for the fourth wicket. But once Aquil was dismissed with the score on 131, it triggered a slide to 204-8. At stumps, MP were 225-8. The Jharkhand bowlers shared the wickets around, with four of them taking two apiece.

Score at stumps, day one: Madhya Pradesh 225-8 (Shubham S Kushwah 84, Vivekanand Tiwary 2-25).

Railways v Gujarat: Day 1 round-up

In Salem, Railways chose to bat against Gujarat and ended the day in a position of strength. Stellar efforts from Shivam Chaudhary (88), Vivek Singh (104) and Pratham Singh (130) helped them get to 383-2. There was a mini-comeback from Gujarat late in the day though, as they took four wickets for 46 runs to bring the scorecard to 429-6.

Haryana v Mumbai: Day 1 round-up

In the third match, once again the team winning the toss chose to bat first. Haryana went in but were rocked early and found themselves at 29-3 in the seventh over. The majority of the runs came courtesy of a 168-run stand between Nishant Sindhu and Dheeru Singh, who finished the day not out on 130. Once Sindhu fell though, Haryana lost two more wickets to end the day six down.

Score at stumps, day one: Haryana 288-6 (Dheeru Singh 130*, Junaid Khan 2-36).

Chhattisgarh v Jammu and Kashmir: Day 1 round-up

Chhattisgarh opted to bat first against Jammu and Kashmir and started brightly as the openers put on 52 for the first wicket. Ayush Pandey (138) and Amandeep Khare (65) also put on 143 for the third wicket, but in what was a pattern across the grounds, wickets fell much more quickly towards the end of the day. They were eventually bowled out for 278.

In reply, J&K made their way to 29-2 in 12.5 overs, losing Ahmed Banday and Vivrant Sharma.

Score at stumps, day one: Chhattisgarh 278 (Ayush Pandey 138, Abid Mushtaq 4-47) v Jammu and Kashmir 29-2 (Shubham Khajuria 12*, Mayank Yadav 1-6).
