The third round of the Buchi Babu tournament 2024 kicked off on Tuesday, August 27. Here is a roundup of all the action from day one.
Madhya Pradesh vs Hyderabad: Day 1 round-up
Madhya Pradesh won the toss and chose to bat in Hyderabad. They made a steady enough start with 31 on the board in 14 overs, but wickets soon began to fall at regular intervals, as they were finally bowled out for 207 in 74.5 overs. Hyderabad spinners Aniketh Reddy, Rohith Rayudu and Tanay Thyagarajan did the bulk of the damage, taking eight wickets between them.
At the close of play, Hyderabad managed to knock 52 runs off the deficit, without losing any wickets.

Gujarat vs TNCA President's XI: Day 1 round-up
Electing to bat first, Gujarat were shaken quickly as TNCA President's XI skipper M Siddharth, of Lucknow Super Giants fame, took all of the first four wickets to fall, leaving them 55-4 in 18.1 overs. But three successive partnerships of 70-plus runs hauled them out of trouble as Kshitij Patel scored 62 and Jaymeet Patel an unbeaten 125.

TNCA XI vs Mumbai: Day 1 round-up
In a highly-anticipated match in Coimbatore, TNCA XI won the toss and chose to bat. Openers S Lokeshwar and S R Athish were back in the hut inside 25 overs, but Pradosh Ranjan Paul (65) and B Indrajith (61) wrestled back the advantage for their side before they were dismissed within 15 overs of each other. They finished the day strong, getting close to 300 with five wickets in hand.
Score at stumps, day one: TNCA XI 294-5 (Pradosh Ranjan Paul 65, Himanshu Singh 2-52) vs Mumbai.
Baroda vs Chhattisgarh: Day 1 round-up
In Dindigul, Baroda elected to bat first and like TNCA XI, lost their openers early on. All of their top eight made it to double figures, but only captain Vishnu Solanki made it past fifty, scoring 52. At the end of the day, Ninad Rathwa (48*) and Mahesh Pithiya (21*) remained at the crease, having put on 66 for the seventh wicket.
