West Indies cricketing royalty Brian Lara has been admitted to hospital in Mumbai after a minor heart scare.
Reports emerged in India that Lara, who is out in Mumbai forming part of the World Cup punditry team for Star Sports, complained of chest discomfort whilst attending one of the broadcaster’s promotional events. He is reportedly expected to return to his hotel later today.
Lara played in five World Cups for the West Indies, captaining the side during their home 2007 tournament, and sits fourth on the all-time World Cup run-scorers list with 1,225 runs.

In 1994, Lara hit a record-breaking 501* for Warwickshire against Durham, a feat that predated the Trinidadian twice breaking the world record for the highest Test score – both times at Antigua Recreation Ground against England.
