BPL 2024: How many teams are playing?
The BPL is Bangladesh’s foremost T20 competition, featuring seven teams, an unusual number for a franchise T20 tournament. Comilla Victorians are the reigning champions and the most successful side in the history of the BPL, with four titles. Other sides include Chattogram Challengers, Durdanto Dhaka, Fortune Barishal, Khulna Tigers, Rangpur Riders and Sylhet Strikers.
Comilla Victorians will feature in the opening game against Durdanto Dhaka. While the competition has to compete with the likes of SA20, ILT20 and the Big Bash League for overseas players, there are still some stars scheduled to feature. The likes of Mohammad Rizwan, Babar Azam and Paul Stirling have all been picked up, with all of Bangladesh’s internationals set to play as well.
BPL 2024: Schedule and match timings
Fixtures in BPL 2024 will be played in five phases, alternating between Dhaka and Sylhet and Chattogram, with phases one, three and five played in Dhaka. Games are played most days, but not every day, and up until Qualifier 2 on February 27, every game day is a double game day. All matches played from Saturday to Thursday start at 130pm and 630pm local time, while games on Fridays start at 2pm and 7pm.
