Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Kuldeep Yadav were picked in India’s limited-overs squads for the upcoming home series against West Indies, while fast bowler Mohammed Shami was named for the three-match Twenty20 international series, paving the way for his return to the shortest format after two years.
Bhuvneshwar had been undergoing rehabilitation at Bengaluru’s National Cricket Academy in a bid to recover from what is understood to be an issue with a muscle. He has since returned to fitness and had a go at the Indian nets ahead of the Indore Test against Bangladesh. He has also returned to on-field action in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, India’s domestic T20 competition.

Kuldeep last played in the ODIs in the West Indies, before he was shockingly excluded from the limited-overs squads for the home series against South Africa and Bangladesh.
Skipper Virat Kohli, who was rested for the T20I series against Bangladesh, will be back to donning short-format colours and will captain the 15-man contingent.
Notable omissions included seamers Khaleel Ahmed and Shardul Thakur, who were both a part of the squad for the Bangladesh series. Rahul Chahar and Kerala wicket-keeper Sanju Samson, who were also a part of that contingent, didn’t make the cut this time, while Ravindra Jadeja’s resurgent all-round form helped him edge out fellow left-arm spinning all-rounder Krunal Pandya.

Mumbai all-rounder Shivam Dube, who had a solid debut series against Bangladesh, has been named in both squads and could get a look-in for a one-day international debut. Navdeep Saini, who was a part of the West Indies tour before going down with an injury, missed out.
West Indies visit India for a little over a fortnight, when they will play three T20Is and as many ODIs, starting with the first T20I on December 6.
