Bangladesh international Taskin Ahmed took 7-19 in the Bangladesh Premier League for Durbar Rajshahi against Dhaka Capital on Thursday (January 2), the third-best figures ever in men's T20 cricket. Read more here.
In match five of the 2025 edition, Dhaka skipper Thisara Perera won the toss and chose to bat first. Taskin struck the first blow, removing international teammate Litton Das off the second ball of the second over. Two overs later, the pacer accounted for Tanzid Hasan, caught by keeper Akbar Ali.
After that, Taskin only returned to the attack at the death, bowling the 17th over. He took two wickets in that over, removing Shahadat Hossain and Chaturanga de Silva – both caught.

Bowling the final over of the innings, Taskin then picked up his fifth wicket off the second ball as Alauddin Babu was caught by Ryan Burl. The very next ball, he knocked over Mukidul Islam's stumps before Shubham Ranjane was caught off the penultimate ball of the innings.
The 29-year-old finished with figures of 7-19, the third-best figures in men's T20 cricket history. Colin Ackermann for Leicestershire against Warwickshire in 2019, and Syazrul Idrus for Malaysia against China in 2023 are the only others to pick up seven in an innings. Three players – Rohmalia Rohmalia, Frederique Overdijk and Alison Stocks – have taken seven wickets in an innings in women's T20 cricket.
