Ben Foakes has been called up in place of the injured Sam Billings for England’s one-off ODI against Ireland and T20I against Pakistan next month.

Billings has been ruled out of both matches after dislocating his shoulder in Kent’s Royal London One-Day Cup match against Glamorgan on Thursday. The 27-year-old will see a specialist on Friday to learn more on the seriousness of his injury.

Foakes, who has played five Tests for England, has yet to feature for the national white-ball sides. In Surrey’s four One-Day Cup matches this season, the 26-year-old wicket-keeper has hit three half-centuries.

His run of form in this year’s competition follows on from a 50-over campaign in 2018 that saw him average 55.80 from seven innings.

England’s ODI against Ireland will take place next Friday at Malahide, and will be followed by the T20I against Pakistan on May 5.
