On April 21 (Monday), the BCCI announced their 2024/25 retainership contract list for India Senior Men.
The BCCI named a list of 34 centrally contracted cricketers for their senior men’s side. The contracts will be valid from October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2025.
Four cricketers have got Grade A+ contracts, the highest category. These include Rohit Sharma, the Test and ODI captain, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, and Jasprit Bumrah. Notably, the first three had retired from T20 Internationals after the India’s triumph in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Notable inclusions are of Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan, neither of whom had got a contract in 2023/24. Iyer, part of the squad that won the 2025 Champions Trophy, has been directly promoted to Grade B, while Kishan got a Grade C contract.
Other inclusions are Nitish Kumar Reddy, Abhishek Sharma, Varun Chakravarthy, Harshit Rana, and Akash Deep. Of them, Akash had a fast bowling contract in 2023/24. Rishabh Pant, who had missed the year 2023 after his horrific accident, returned to the fold in 2024. In the new contract, the BCCI promoted him from Grade B to Grade A.
On the other hand, Shardul Thakur, KS Bharat, Jitesh Sharma, and Avesh Khan lost their central contracts.
