The event will be held for the first time since 2020, with both the Indian and England cricket teams expected to be in attendance. The function will be held in Hyderabad, the venue of the first Test between the two sides on January 25.
According to reports, Shubman Gill will be given the Cricketer of the Year Award for his performances in 2023 which saw him end as the highest run-scorer across formats. Gill made 1,584 ODI runs, the most by any player, at an average of 63.36 with five hundreds and nine fifties. He also became the fastest to 2,000 ODI runs last year. Gill amassed 258 Test runs in six games with a high score of 128 and 312 runs in the shortest format.
Former India head coach Ravi Shastri is also expected to get the BCCI’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Shastri played 80 Tests and 150 ODIs and was also the coach of the senior men’s team for two stints. Under him, India won the Test series in Australia twice – in 2018/19 and 2020/21. India also made it to the semi-final of the 2019 World Cup under him.
