The BCCI have announced a revised schedule for India's home winter, including venue changes to both India's series against Bangladesh and England. Here are all the details.
Bangladesh are set to tour India for a two Test match and three T20I match series beginning next month. The schedule change which affects that series concerns the first T20I, which was set to be held in Dharamsala on October 6. That match will now take place in Gwalior, with the BCCI citing “upgrades and renovation work being carried out by the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association in the dressing rooms” at the stadium in Dharamsala.
The Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium has never hosted an international fixture before. The last time international cricket was hosted in Gwalior was the historic India-South Africa ODI in 2010, when Sachin Tendulkar scored the first double century in men's ODI cricket.
There has also been a change made to the venues for the India v England white-ball series in January and February of next year. India are set to play five ODIs and three T20Is against England, starting on January 22. The first two venues for the T20I series have been swapped, with Chennai – originally scheduled to host the first T20I – now hosting the second, and Kolkata – originally scheduled to host the second – now hosting the first.
The BCCI cited the reason for the change as “a request from the Kolkata Police to the Cricket Association of Bengal regarding their prior Republic Day commitments and obligations”.
There is no change to India’s three Test matches against New Zealand.
