England coach Trevor Bayliss has backed veterans Alastair Cook and Stuart Broad to bounce back from what has been a torrid Ashes tour so far.
Cook, 32, has not passed fifty with the bat and Broad, 31, has averaged over 60 with the ball in the first three Tests as Australia have regained the Ashes.
Bayliss, whose own record as Test coach has been called into question – they have lost 17 and won 15 of their 35 Tests under his charge – said Cook and Broad have a future with England.
“I think they both agree they are a little bit closer to the end than the start,” he said.
“That just happens with experience, the older you get. But there’s no reason why they can’t continue to be a part of this England team into the future.

“Broady is a quality pace bowler and has been for a number of years. He didn’t take any wickets in this game but I’m sure it’s not the first time and I’m sure he’s got that experience to be able to bounce back.”
