It might not have been Jonny Bairstow’s best week, but he has received some welcome news that his autobiography A Clear Blue Sky has been shortlisted for Best Autobiography of the Year at the 2018 Sports Book Awards.
This news comes in a week marred firstly by England’s crushing 10-wicket defeat at the hands of Australia, and the surfacing of the now-infamous ‘head-butt’ on opposing player Cameron Bancroft.

The autobiography is an honest, hard-hitting and revealing account of Bairstow’s turbulent life. His father, David, tragically took his own life when Jonny was only eight, and the flame-haired prodigy proceeded to follow in his father’s footsteps by becoming a Yorkshire and England wicketkeeper.
Last year’s winner of Autobiography of the Year, Joey Barton, is amongst the esteemed list of panellists who will have the job of deciphering whether Bairstow’s book is the pick of the bunch.
Amongst the other 11 nominees are ex-Arsenal defender Tony Adams’ Sober, England rubgy player Billy Vunipola’s Wrecking Ball and boxer Nicola Adams’ Believe.
