Former Australia all-rounder Andrew McDonald has been announced as the head coach of the men’s Birmingham-based team in The Hundred, which starts in July 2020.
The 38-year-old’s stock has risen in recent times, having become the first person to win the Australian domestic treble as a coach since the Big Bash League (BBL) was launched. Earlier this year he took Melbourne Renegades to their first BBL title, while also winning the Sheffield Shield and One-Day Cup with Victoria.
Craig Flindall, Warwickshire’s Chief Operating Officer, added: “We went through a very comprehensive selection process and spoke to several outstanding coaches, who have vast experience of the international game, in addition to marquee T20 tournaments. Andrew was the standout candidate amongst this group and everyone is looking forward to welcoming him to Edgbaston.”
