West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell is in line to make his comeback to competitive cricket following a one-year ban from the game.
He will represent Jamaica in the Regional Super50, West Indies’ domestic 50-over competition against Leewards Islands in Antigua on Friday.
The Jamaican was banned for 12 months to January 30 for negligence in filing his whereabouts on three separate occasions in 2015 – equivalent to a failed drug test under WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) rules.

The matches in the Caribbean are Russell’s first competitive cricket before continuing his career as a star in T20 franchise tournaments. He will join up with Islamabad United in the PSL in February before returning to Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL after the team retained his services for around £1m before the 2018 player auction.
Russell is one of the four players who have chosen the PSL over representing West Indies in the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers in Zimbabwe, along with Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard and Darren Bravo.
