Barbados Tridents have drafted Alex Hales for the 2019 Caribbean Premier League.
Hales was picked in the first round of the draft and will turn out for the side that finished last in the previous season’s league stage.
The 30-year-old batsman was withdrawn from England’s World Cup squad last month after it came to light that he had failed a second drugs test.
Hales – who has been dropped from all England squads this summer – was not picked up by any side in last year’s CPL draft at a base price of $40,000.
The Notts batsman will be a part of the same side as West Indies captain Jason Holder, an exciting prospect for Hales.
Speaking at the CPL draft, Hales said: “It’ll be nice not facing him! At the moment he’s one of the best all-rounders in the world across all formats and he’s a wonderful leader as well. It’ll be a great opportunity to work alongside him.”
