On Saturday (November 9), Haryana opener Yashvardhan Dalal grabbed the headlines with a quadruple century in the Colonel CK Nayudu Trophy against Mumbai.
Haryana began their third match of the tournament in India's premier age group first-class competition on Friday. After being played with an U-25 age limit for the past two seasons, it has reverted to an U-23 format this year.
Their first match, from October 13-16, had ended in a draw after they had only made it to 102-2 in 22 overs against Madhya Pradesh. Haryana then went on to lose their second game to Jharkhand, by nine wickets.
Against Mumbai, Haryana were put in to bat first. They promoted Yashavardhan Dalal to the top of the order, after he'd scored 4 against MP, and 23 & 67 in the loss to Jharkhand.

Along with Arsh Ranga, the pair put on a staggering 410 for the first wicket, before Ranga was dismissed off the final ball of the 98th over of the innings, caught off the bowling of Atharva Bhosale for 151. By that stage, Dalal had already made his way to 243.
Wickets then began to fall at more regular intervals, but Dalal remained unbeaten throughout, stitching half-century stands with Parth Nagill (25) and captain Sarvesh Rohilla (48).

Dalal went past milestone after milestone, crossing 250, 300 and 350 with ease. In the evening session on day two, he went past the mark of 400. He then put the foot down, accelerating in a bid to secure quick runs for his side as they were already eight down. By stumps, he was unbeaten on 426 off 463 balls, hitting 46 fours and 12 sixes in a marathon knock.
Haryana are currently 732-8, and have not declared yet. Dalal will have the chance to add to his score when the match resumes tomorrow.
This is not the Jhajjar-born opener's first brush with big scores, though. In an U-16 league match in December 2021, he slammed 237 to help Haryana Cricket Academy score 452-5 in 40 overs, and eventually secure a 368-run win.
