Opening the batting alongside Abhinav Manohar, Karnataka captain Mayank Agarwal took just 45 balls to reach three figures, his fastest century in List A cricket. It is now the fifth-fastest century ever in the history of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. It included just six dot balls, hitting five out of his six sixes down the ground.

Twice in three days now, Mayank has hit a century: two days ago, on the sixth anniversary of his Boxing Day Test debut in Australia, he smashed an unbeaten 139 to take Karnataka to a sensational one-run win over Punjab. No other batter in the team crossed 30.

On Saturday, Karnataka were chasing a 167-run target; Manohar, who batted at No.8 in the last game, was promoted to open instead of Nikin Jose.

The openers razed down the target in 14.2 overs, with Mayank finishing on 100 off 45, with seven fours and seven sixes, while Manohar played a supporting hand with 66 off 41, four fours and as many sixes included.

Earlier, Mayank also took his maiden List A wicket, the first of his 117-match career.

A week back, Anmolpreet Singh had set a new record in Vijay Hazare Trophy, smashing a century off just 35 balls. Mayank now stands fifth on the list of fastest VHT centuries. Incidentally, Anmolpreet's century also came against Arunachal Pradesh.
