Tilak Varma breaks world record for most runs between dismissals in men's T20Is

A middle-order collapse saw India stumble to 79-5 by the halfway stage before Tilak Varma batted with the tail and powered India over the line.

Tilak finished on 72 not out from 55 balls – his fourth successive unbeaten innings in T20Is. He had remained not out on 19 in the first T20I, and scored back-to-back centuries (120* & 107*) against South Africa prior to that.

Tilak Varma has scored 318 runs since he was last dismissed in the format, caught by David Miller off the bowling of Aiden Markram in Gqeberha in November.

Tilak Varma set a new world record, overtaking the 271 runs between dismissals recorded by New Zealand's Mark Chapman in 2023.

After Tilak, only a few players have crossed 250 runs between dismissals, including Mark Chapman (271), Sacha de Alwis (251), Aaron Finch (240) and Shreyas Iyer (240).
