A 28-member panel picked Wisden Cricket Monthly’s Test team of 2021, but the decision was not an easy one, with 29 players in consideration. We now want you to pick what your world Test XI of 2021 would be.

The last few months saw some terrific performances in the Test format and picking an XI had its challenges. R Ashwin was the only cricketer who was unanimously picked by our panel, comprising of esteemed journalists from the world. WCM’s XI had openers Rohit Sharma and Dimuth Karunaratne in the side, though Devon Conway and KL Rahul were strong contenders as well. The panel went in with Kane Williamson and Joe Root at No. 3 and 4, respectively, with Marnus Labuschagne coming in at five, followed by Fawad Alam. Babar Azam and Dhanajaya de Silva were the other batters in contention for a place in Wisden Cricket Monthy’s Test team of the year.

Rishabh Pant edged ahead of Pakistan’s Mohammed Rizwan as the wicketkeeper in the side, even though his consistency dried up by the end of 2021. The panel made the decision to go in with just one spinner in the XI, with three fast bowlers. Shaheen Shah Afridi, Pat Cummins and Kyle Jamieson were the players who made the cut, ahead of competitors such as Hasan Ali, Jason Holder, Ollie Robinson, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Tim Southee and James Anderson among others.
