Watch: Suryakumar hooks and flicks Lockie for successive sixes to reverse poor form in blazing cameo

by Wisden Staff 2 minute read

Watch: Suryakumar Yadav, who has been in dreadful form in the last month, launched Lockie Ferguson for two sixes in a row in a splendid cameo against Kolkata Knight Riders today (April 16).

Chasing 186 for their second win of the season, Mumbai Indians got off to a flier scoring 87-1 in 7.2 overs. Yadav, who was captaining the game following a stomach bug to Rohit Sharma, walked out at one-down, and started off cautiously, scoring 14 in his first 11 balls.

Yadav, who has four first-ball ducks in his last six innings across formats, and has been struggling for runs, broke the shackles in the 11th over of the innings, sent down by Ferguson. The fifth ball by the Kiwi quick was hooked over fine leg for a maximum, and he replicated the feat with a nonchalant flick over deep mid-wicket to race away to 26 in 15 balls.

Yadav was eventually dismissed for a 25-ball 43, with his innings containing three sixes and four fours.
