Watch: Mohammed Siraj was seen having a heated argument with Delhi Capitals opener Phil Salt – who seemingly uttered a few words to the bowler – after a waist-high wide during an IPL 2023 clash with Royal Challengers Bangalore today (May 6).

Salt got off to a flier in a run chase of 182, scoring 18 in his first 12 balls before smashing Siraj for two sixes and a four on the first three balls of the fifth over. The fourth ball was a short ball that was too high, and the batter immediately looked towards the square leg umpire for a wide, who relented. Upon being given the wide, Salt seemingly smiled at Siraj and uttered a few words, following which the bowler retaliated.

He fired a volley of words back at Salt before DC skipper David Warner also walked down to the middle of the pitch to diffuse the situation. Siraj, who made his IPL debut under Warner in Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2017, was seen having a word with the Capitals captain, before pointing his fingers in anger at Salt and making a “shush” sign as he walked back to his run-up.

The on-field umpires and RCB captain Faf du Plessis too tried to calm the cricketers in question, before the action resumed.

Salt went on to score his fifty in 28 deliveries, while Siraj conceded 28 in his first two overs.

This is the second time in as many RCB games that players from two opposing teams have been involved in a war of words, after the drama that unfolded with Virat Kohli and Lucknow Super Giants’ Naveen-ul-Haq and Gautam Gambhir earlier this week.
