Watch: Shoaib Malik smashed Babar Azam for six consecutive sixes in one over, slogging him down the ground during a T10 charity match in 2017 for the Shahid Afridi Foundation.

Playing for the ‘Green Team’ in the fundraising match, Malik was already on 48* off 15 balls when Babar came onto bowl in the seventh over of the match, with the team total at 104-1. Taking advantage of the Pakistan captain’s part-time off-breaks, Malik wasted no time in smoking a glorious drive straight down the ground over the bowler’s head which landed well over the rope.

After reaching his fifty, the all-rounder then slogged a a full angling in delivery for a huge maximum into the leg-side, clearing the deep midwicket boundary to take his innings tally of sixes to eight. He targeted the same area with the same result on the next delivery, Babar bowling slightly straighter but to no avail as he watched the ball sail for six once more.

The fourth six took Malik to 66* from 17 balls, he cleared the front foot and targeted the mid-on boundary once more, with the commentators praising his efforts as “top class batting”. Malik switched his approach on Babar’s next delivery, hitting into the off side and manoeuvring a full delivery well over deep extra cover.

With the full quota of sixes now within touching distance, Malik finished with a bang – hitting the largest maximum of his blitz back over deep midwicket. It was a brutal display of power-hitting which helped the Green Team to a huge total of 210 from ten overs.

After bearing the brunt of Malik’s aggression however, Babar got his revenge by smashing an outrageous 26-ball century and leading his side to a comfortable nine wicket victory. Had the match been official, Babar’s extraordinary second innings hundred would’ve been the fastest T20 century on record, eclipsing Chris Gayle’s 30-ball record which he scored in the 2013 IPL.
