Watch: Pakistan debutant Arshad Iqbal breaks batsman’s helmet in two with rapid bouncer

by Wisden Staff 2 minute read

Pakistan quick Arshad Iqbal had a debut to remember against Zimbabwe, bowling with pace and accuracy to record figures of 1-16 in four overs.

The most eye-catching moment came when bowling to opening batsman Tinashe Kamunhukamwe, in the seventh over of the game. A sharp leg-stump bouncer hit the batsman on the helmet, with the outer shell of the lid then peeling off and falling to the turf.

Kamunhukamwe seemed unhurt and was able to resume batting. His top score of 34 proved crucial in a low-scoring thriller. Zimbabwe scrambled up to 118-9, and though Pakistan looked well set at 78-3, with Babar Azam on 41*, an incredible collapse of 21-7 saw the tourists lose by 19 runs.
