Kane Williamson has developed a reputation as one of the coolest characters in world cricket, and what you’re about to watch will take your appreciation of him to a new level.
The Black Caps captain earned praise for his gracious reaction to New Zealand’s heartbreaking 2019 Cricket World Cup final defeat, and has won admirers for his classy, technically correct batting style on the field and his laidback demeanor off it.
During a Test against Pakistan in 2011, in just his second series as a Test cricketer, he managed to combine both aspects, blowing a bubble while stroking a glorious back-foot punch for four. Brendon McCullum, Williamson’s former New Zealand captain, made a name as a gum chewing gunslinger. His protege simply took it a step further, swapping out the Wrigley’s for Hubba Bubba.
