Watch: Former Pakistan U19 captain run out off free hit in comedic fashion, caught out wandering dozily back to crease

Former Pakistan U19 captain Rohail Nazir was run out in bizarre circumstances
by Wisden Staff 2 minute read

Watch: Former Pakistan Under-19 captain Rohail Nazir was involved in a comical run-out during a National T20 Cup clash between Northern (Pakistan) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The dismissal occurred in the sixth over. Ihsanullah, who had already picked two wickets earlier, bowled a no ball, resulting in a free hit. Nazir, who was on strike, tried to swing the ball away into the leg side, but could only manage a top edge that was caught by extra cover. At this point Nazir lost concentration and wandered out of his crease, only to see the fielder to throw down the stumps at the bowler’s end. Replays confirmed that Nazir was short of his ground, and he batter had to walk back to the pavilion, much to his dismay.

Despite Nazir’s dismissal, Northern reached 152 and won the game by six runs. Zeeshan Malik starred with a half-century, while Mehran Mumtaz bagged three wickets. Northern’s next game is scheduled for September 15, where they will take on Balochistan at Multan.
