Sony Sports cuts England – New Zealand Test match coverage on TV to telecast PSL

Sony Sports cut coverage of Eng NZ Test on TV
by Wisden Staff 2 minute read

Sony Sports has received a barrage of criticism after they switched the coverage on television from the England – New Zealand Test match to the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Sony Ten 1 had been showing the live coverage of the second Test between England and New Zealand that began today. However, at 06:30 PM IST, it switched the coverage to the PSL game between Multan Sultans and Karachi Kings, leaving subscribers displeased.

Sony has Sony Ten 1, Sony Ten 2, Sony Ten 3, Sony Ten 4, and Sony Six channels for sports with the Sony Six channel dedicated to Cricket and NBA.

People who paid for the channel to watch the Test match will now have to follow the match on their live streaming platform, Sony Liv. Incidentally, none of the other channels are showing live coverage of any sport.

Users will now have to subscribe separately to watch the match on the app. Those who aren’t on the app but paid for a TV subscription have been left in the cold.

With the Euro Cup slated to begin tomorrow, there’s additional football coverage leading to the clash.

Wisden.com reached out to Sony for comment but at the time of writing are yet to receive a response.
