Men run away from police after breaking lockdown rules to play cricket in London

by Wisden Staff 1 minute read

In an extraordinary video, a group of people can be seen abandoning their cricket match and running away from the police in a park in northwest London.

Reports suggested there were around 20-30 men gathered to play cricket in Kensal Green, despite social distancing rules being observed in the United Kingdom.

The Kensal Green police tweeted a video, in which the men rush to gather their belongings and run away as officers approach them.

“Officers from @MPSKensalGreen were tasked to deal with people not following government rules,” the tweet read. “What we found in Chandos Recreation Ground NW9 is ridiculous!! 20-30 males playing cricket and running away after seeing police.”

Kensal Green police again took to Twitter later, saying, “We still cannot believe what we found in the park yesterday… These people clearly don’t care about the NHS, but will be the first to complain about our great NHS staff when they end up in hospital with coronavirus.”
