India cricket schedule: Full list of Test, ODI and T20I matches in the 2023-27 FTP

by Wisden Staff 4 minute read

The ICC officially released the Future Tours Programme (FTP) for 2023-27, and we take a look at India’s schedule.

The Indian men’s cricket team will play a total of 141 international matches, excluding ICC and ACC events, in the next cycle of the FTP.

The biggest highlight will be the return of the five-match Test series between India and Australia when the latter welcome Rohit Sharma’s side in the 2023-25 World Test Championship cycle. The last time the two sides played a five-match Test series was in 1992. Australia. Australia will then return to India for a five-match Test series in India in January-February 2027.

India will also play a total of ten Tests against England, thus ensuring that more than half of their Tests – they play 38 matches in the next FTP – will be either against Australia or England. They will host Ben Stokes’ team in early 2024 and then play an away series in 2025.

India will play a one-off Test match against Afghanistan in June 2026 along with three ODIs at home and then will play a three-match T20I series against the opponents later that year away from home. Overall, the side will play bilateral series against all but three Test-playing countries: Zimbabwe, Ireland and Pakistan.

Barring bilateral Test series against England, Australia, and West Indies away (July 2023) and New Zealand at home (2024), all other tours featuring India will have two Tests each. The series against the Windies and the Black Caps will have three Tests. India will play two Tests against South Africa. The two teams have played three Tests per series recently.
