The alternative start to the 2020 County Championship season

by Wisden Staff 3 minute read

April 12 should have been a date to rejoice for county die-hards up and down the land; it was to be the start of the 2020 County Championship.

Of course, that hasn’t turned out to be the case. Nevertheless, the appetite to put on the whites remains, with county stars showing how they’ve kicked off the season on social media.

Looks like Sussex will begin their opener with the bat after skipper Ben Brown went out for the toss.

England and Kent’s Joe Denly looked pretty solid behind his first ball faced this season.

While Essex seamer Sam Cook didn’t quite land it where he was hoping to…

Unfortunately for England tweaker Dom Bess, he’s not made the XI for Somerset’s first fixture.

Lancashire leggie Matt Parkinson also misses out on a seaming Old Trafford wicket – but at least he’s keeping himself busy the right way.
