Watch: Shadab Khan suffers nasty collision with teammate while fielding on Sussex debut in T20 Blast
Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan suffered a nasty collision with teammate Nathan McAndrew yesterday (May 26) on the field in a T20 Blast match between Sussex and Somerset.
Shadab Khan was making his debut for Sussex after having played for Yorkshire last season. Sussex had scored 183-8 in their 20 overs with Shadab contributing nine runs. During the run chase, Somerset were in a decent position at 62-2 when the collision between Shadab and McAndrew happened.
Shadab was stationed at cover on the thirty-yard circle while McAndrew was standing at the long-off boundary. Tom Kohler-Cadmore sliced a full delivery by Ravi Bopara towards extra cover.
Shadab and McAndrew both went after the ball and were ball-watching. They ended up diving into each other and lay on the ground for several minutes. Immediate medical attention was given as the physio as well as all the players and umpires made their way towards Shadab and McAndrew to check on them.
McAndrew was able to get back up and take the field after the collision. However, Shadab sat out for the remainder of the game as a precautionary measure. Paul Farbrace, head coach, Sussex, later confirmed that both players were fine and that nothing serious had happened with Shadab.
“Shadab is alright. He has a bit of a sore neck. The doctor felt that it was best to take him out of the game, nervous of obviously concussion. They both are alright, that’s the most important thing,” said Frabrace.

Sussex next face Surrey tomorrow (May 28) at The Oval.
