Australia batsman Chris Lynn has, according to a report in Fox Sports Australia, deleted a tweet that hinted at his disapproval of the BBL [Big Bash League] schedule for the upcoming season, which was released on Wednesday.

The 2020/21 season will be the longest in the tournament’s nine-year history, comprising 61 matches in a 65-day window, which has been lengthened to allow flexibility amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to the report, Lynn took to social media to slam the extended BBL season, tweeting, “The Golden Goose has been cooked again …”, before deleting the post.

Speaking to Channel 7 in January 2019, Lynn had admitted that the BBL schedule had resulted in fatigue for the players because of incessant games and lack of break in between.

“I think 14 games is too many. You do get a few breaks in between, here and there, but it just drags out,” Lynn had said.

“It’s a bit of a roller coaster, you can go in and out of form so quickly. Yeah, we’re down the bottom end, but talking to the players around the other squads, there are some tired boys. And I don’t want to be soft or anything like that, but that’s just the vibe I am getting.

“Obviously, the season goes a bit longer when you’re not winning much, but even talking to the [Melbourne] Stars boys before the game [in 2019], they said exactly the same. It’s something that Cricket Australia will review at the end of the year.”

The 2020/21 season will be held from December 3 to February 6.
