Watch: Mohammed Siraj continued his fine showing with the new ball in IPL 2023, cleaning Jos Buttler with a ripper for a second-ball duck, during the Royal Challengers Bangalore-Rajasthan Royals match in Bengaluru.

Siraj, RCB’s leading wicket-taker this season, went joint-second in the Purple Cap list after the scalp, giving the home team a breakthrough in the first over of their defence of 189.

Chasing 190, RR’s opening pairing of Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal were separated after just the fourth ball of the innings, when Siraj shaped one into Buttler. The ball, angled in, cut into Buttler, who saw his middle stump uprooted, missing the line of the ball completely. It was Buttler’s second duck in the competition, having registered a five-ball duck against Gujarat Titans last week.

Siraj brought out footballer Cristiano Ronaldo’s trademark mid-air pirouette celebration. Virat Kohli – who was dismissed for a golden duck earlier in the game – joined in too, animatedly clapping in the direction of Buttler as he walked off.
