Watch: Mohammed Shami got his team Gujarat Titans off to a flier in the 2023 IPL opener, dismissing Chennai Super Kings opener Devon Conway with a beauty to go to 100 wickets in the tournament today (March 31).

Shami, bowling his second over of the clash, clean-bowled Conway with a fuller in-ducker to pick up his 100th scalp in the IPL. The second ball of the second over of the innings, bowled around the wicket, slanted in, and the batter attempted to drive. However, he was unable to connect, with the ball sneaking past his defence and shattering the stumps as Chennai Super Kings were reduced to 14-1.

Shami, who has been playing in the IPL since 2013, has played 94 games thus far, picking up his wickets at an average of 29.09.

Despite the early wicket, Chennai recovered to post 51-2 after the end of the powerplay overs, with Shami conceding 19 runs in his three overs upfront along with picking up Conway.
