Watch: Jos Buttler shrugged off a rusty start with a baseball-style leg-side wallop, hitting a 112-metre six in the Rajasthan Royals-Lucknow Super Giants IPL 2023 fixture.

Opening with Yashasvi Jaiswal, Buttler trudged to 5 off 14 balls as the pair settled first, taking stock of the Sawai Mansingh Stadium pitch, hosting its first IPL 2023 game. He looked measured and watchful until the fourth ball of the fifth over when rookie quick Yudhvir Singh Charak sent one in his range.

He cleared his front foot and muscled it far over the deep mid-wicket boundary, finishing with one of the biggest sixes of the tournament so far. The record still stands with Faf du Plessis, who carted another LSG bowler – Ravi Bishnoi – for a 115-metre six.

The pair proceeded to bring up their third fifty-plus partnership this season. At the time of writing, Rajasthan were 60-0 in 8, chasing 155.

Buttler was the Orange Cap holder in the 2022 season, and was seventh on the list for IPL 2023 before the game.
