Watch: Harry Brook flays fiery Umesh Yadav for consecutive sixes to overturn poor form in style

by Wisden Staff 2 minute read

Watch: Harry Brook got off to a flier to overturn a poor start to his IPL career, hitting Kolkata Knight Riders’ Umesh Yadav for two successive sixes in the third over of the innings, racing away to 31 in just 11 balls for Sunrisers Hyderabad today (April 14).

Brook, who was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 13.25 crore, did not have the greatest start to the season, scoring 29 runs in three games at a strike rate of 74.36 before the match against KKR. Walking out to open for just the fifth time in his T20 career, the England batter started off with three fours in the first over of the innings, bowled by Umesh. He hit Lockie Ferguson for a four towards the square leg and then proceeded to take on Umesh again in his second over.

The SRH batters took three singles in the first four balls of the third over of the innings, leaving Brook on strike for the last two deliveries. Umesh erred in his length, bowling a full toss, which was slammed away over extra cover for a maximum. The bowler rectified his length on the next delivery, sending down a straighter ball but the batter backed away and sliced it over deep point for the second successive six.
